Draft Act amending Act No 166/1999 on veterinary care and amending certain related acts (the VeterinaryAct), as amended, and other related acts.

The notification concerns only PART TWO - Amendment to the Act on the protection of animals againstcruelty of the draft Act amending Act No 166/1999 on veterinary care and amending certain related acts (theVeterinary Act), as amended, and other related acts

The draft amendment to the Animal Protection Act newly regulates the obligation for a camera monitoringsystem to be installed in slaughterhouses to monitor the welfare of animals in slaughterhouses. The draft aimsto further increase the level of protection of animals at the time of slaughter.
The imposition of an obligation to install and use a camera system in slaughterhouses in the Animal WelfareAct constitutes legislation going beyond that laid down in Council Regulation (EC) No 1099/2009 of 24September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing. Currently, EU legislation does not requirethe use of camera systems in slaughterhouses.

The basic regulation is Act No 246/1992 on the protection of animals against cruelty, as amended.
The Animal Protection Act, as amended, does not contain references to national technical standards, technicaldocuments or company standards, or European standards, harmonised standards or international standardscontaining a national annex or a national note or recommendations.
