Motor gasoline with the octane number of 98.

Repeal of the derogation in the Liquid Fuel Act for petrol with the octane number of 98 and its inclusion inthe obligation to include a biocomponent in the fuel.

The intention is to repeal Section 2'1(8)(1) of the Liquid Fuel Act. In the current legislation, petrol with theoctane number of 98 was exempted from the obligation to add a biocomponent to fuel. When the current Actentered into force, there was still a considerable number of older types of cars in the society (e.g. VAZ2101,etc.) whose technological peculiarities did not enable driving with ethanol-containing biofuel. Furthermore, theobligation for each litre of mixture is no longer applicable, as a result of which it is no longer considerednecessary to keep this specificity in the law. The proposed amendment sends a signal to the market that petrol98 will also have to comply with the requirement to include a biocomponent in the future and adds one optionfor meeting the renewable energy obligation in the transport sector, thereby contributing to the reduction ofemissions in the sector. Motor gasoline 98 is subject to a 6 % CO2 reduction requirement, but the renewableenergy percentage requirement is not yet in force.
