Offering of non-prescription medicinal products for sale through information society intermediation services.

Draft amendment to Order No V-1491 of the Minister for Health of the Republic of Lithuania of 21 December2015 approving the description of the procedure for proposing the remote sale of medicinal products andreimbursable medical aids to residents

The draft amendment to the Order proposes to supplement the existing regulation on the offer for remotesale of medicinal products and reimbursable medical aids to residents with new provisions and to allowpharmacies to offer non-prescription medicines not only on pharmacies’ websites, but also through informationsociety intermediation services.

The essence of the draft amendment to the Order is as follows:
1. It is proposed to allow pharmacies to offer non-prescription medicines for sale via the online interface of theonline intermediation service provider, that is, any software, including a website or part thereof andapplications, including mobile applications.
2. An additional obligation for a pharmacy to notify the competent authority of the internet addresses of onlineintermediation service providers’ websites where the pharmacy offers medicinal products for remote sale inorder to identify those websites.
