Changes in the regultation relating to restrictions on the manufacture, import, export, sale and use of chemicals and other products hazardous to health and the enviroment (The Product Regulation)

The blending mandate for biofuels in shipping says that entities that sell liquid fuel for use in shipping shall make sure that at least 6 percent of total volume of liquid fuel sold per year to shipping needs to be advanced liquid biofuel. Biogas is excluded from the requirement.

Entities that sell liquid fuel for use in road traffic shall make sure that at least 19 volume percent of the total amount of liquid fuel sold per year consists of biofuel. Biogas is excluded from the requirement. At least 12,5 volume percent of the total amount shall be advanced biofuel. The rest can be first generation biofuel, produced from types of biomass that are often used for food. If traders use more than 12,5 percent advanced biofuel, the extra volumes coundt double. For example: If 15 percent of total volume of fuel to road traffic is advanced biofuel, it will count as 17,5 percent when they report, because the extra 2,5 percent will count as 5 percent. The purpose is to make advanced biofuel, which is more sustainable, more profitable compared to first generation
biofuel.
