– the conditions under which commercial fishing takes place, including the type and number of fishing gear;

– the number and design of fishing gear of a given type used for commercial fishing,

– the type and number offishing gear to be deployed simultaneously in a given area.

Draft Regulation of the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development amending the Regulation onminimum size limits and closed seasons for marine organisms and detailed conditions for commercial fishing

The draft Regulation amends the current Regulation for the Minister of Maritime Economy and InlandWaterways of 21 August 2019 on minimum size limits and closed seasons for marine organisms and detailedconditions for commercial fishing (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 1556; of 2023, items 362 and 1037; and of2024, item 244), which has not yet been notified.

The changes introduced relate to the conditions for commercial fishing, including:
(1) the manner in which fishing is conducted and landed;
(2) the amount of by-catch that is acceptable in a directed fishery for a particular species;
(3) the number and type of fishing gear that may be carried on board a fishing vessel during a given fishingtrip;
(4) the rules and deadlines for the recording of data in the logbook by vessels fishing with towed or trawledgear;
(5) ports where landings of unsorted fish are permitted;
(6) information sent to the Fisheries Monitoring Centre as part of the notification of the intention to landunsorted fish;
(7) areas closed to commercial fishing.
