The Department of Agriculture (DOA) is proposing to revise the DOA notification concerning the phytosanitary import requirements of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) seeds for sowing from all countries as follows:

1.    The Notification of Department of Agriculture, Re: Conditions for import of Tomato Seeds B.E. 2563 (2020), dated 30 November 2020, is repealed and replaced by this (Draft) DOA notification;

2.    Tomato seed lots are required to fulfil one of the following phytosanitary import conditions, and/or a combination of the two conditions addressing each of nine quarantine pests, i.e. Clavibacter michiganensis, Pepino mosaic virus, Tomato brown rugose fruit virus, Tomato mottle mosaic virus, Potato spindle tuber viroid, Tomato apical stunt viroid, Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid, Tomato planta macho viroid and Columnea latent viroid.

Tomato seeds were produced in a country where the quarantine pests are not known to occur;

OR Tomato seeds were officially tested by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or Real time PCR method on a sample size not less than 3,000 seeds were taken from a sampling of lot, or in the case of a small seed lot, a sampling of lot as sample not less than 10 percent of weight and found free from the quarantine pests.
